ILUS - Controls Engineer III

Overview

Daifuku Intralogistics America Corporation is a leading provider of intelligent material handling systems. With hundreds of engineers in-house, the company designs, manufactures, integrates, and installs a full spectrum of intralogistics solutions to meet client needs. These include conveyor and sortation systems, voice- and light-directed order fulfillment equipment, warehouse controls and execution software, robotics, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), mezzanines, and structures, all backed by round-the-clock service and support.

The Controls Engineer III designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions. Responsibilities include development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic, and solutions that deliver exceptional customer value. Works closely with the project team to design systems meeting project requirements. Uses creativity to tailor the standard product offering to customer needs. Leads large projects and directs the work of assigned team members.

Performs duties with minimal direction.

• Lead in the concepting and design of products that add value and solve customer and market needs
• Lead and collaborate with others on the development team to create products
• Ensure products fit with current and future manufacturing operations
• Ensure products meet competitive and market demands for performance and cost
• Specify and develop a sequence of operations for automated equipment
• Prepare schematics and specifications for control panel fabrication
• Develop Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs
• Maintain product development schedules and cost estimates
• Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision control
• Perform prototype development and testing
• Conduct on-site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics
• Investigate product issues in the field and determine root cause
• Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 6 years of related experience
• Experience with industrial HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers and Schneider PLCs
• In-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, and Schneider PLCs
• Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical or other related electrical CAD systems such as E-Plan
• Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
