Controller; Political Consultant

Controller | Political Consulting Firm | Washington, D.C.

A political consulting firm is seeking a Controller to take ownership of accounting, compliance, and financial operations while helping modernize internal systems for long-term growth.

• Learn company operations before assuming full controller responsibilities
• Own day-to-day accounting, close process, and financial reporting
• Manage tax compliance (sales, privilege, and commercial activity taxes)
• Oversee FEC compliance, filings, and political finance reporting
• Handle HR functions including payroll, benefits, and compliance
• Redesign financial and operational processes for scalability
• Partner with leadership on forecasting and strategic decisions

• Strong accounting foundation; public accounting experience preferred
• CPA preferred but not required for exceptional candidates
• Operations-minded professional comfortable wearing multiple hats
• Proven ability to build, improve, and redesign internal processes
• Experience with multi-state and political tax considerations
• Based in or willing to work in Washington, D.C.
• Political Experience is a plus
