Position: Assistant Director, Financial Aid - State and Federal Grants, Verification, Work Study

Administers State Grants, Pell Grant, work study program, all facets of verification, as well as financial aid packaging for returning undergraduate students. Assists in financial aid counseling and awarding services. This is a full‑time, 12‑month staff position reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing all facets of verification, keeping up with federal changes. Verifies chosen applicants, makes corrections on the applications, and releases funds when complete.
  • Responsible for reporting and balancing the State Grant Programs to the Ohio Board of Regents.
  • Prepares files and works with Ohio Board of Regents on the bi‑annual State Grant audit.
  • Manage Federal Work‑Study program. Send out and collect/maintain job descriptions, receive time sheets, calculate wages, enter all earnings on primary database, and submit to payroll. Balance payroll monthly with Business Office.
  • Manages and balances the Federal Pell Grant program, (balancing COD, and the Business Office).
  • Determine financial need and package aid entitled to returning students. Perform needs analysis and verification of applicants as needed during packaging.
  • Maintain/update student application data with Department of Education using federal and institutional software.
  • Maintain/update financial aid forms and web pages as needed.
  • Work closely with the Admission staff in recruiting incoming students, including meeting, and advising prospective students, and presentations at events.
  • Counsel students and parents about various programs, eligibility criteria, application procedures, verification procedures, debt management, and intended usage of all student assistance funds received.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two years financial aid experience.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations governing Title IV and State aid.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and adaptability to evolving federal regulations are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Preferred experience with:
    Power

    FAIDS, Slate, Jenzabar, U.S. Department of Education platforms, including FAFSA Partner Connect, COD, NSLDS, and the FAFSA Partner Portal.
