EXAMINATION INFORMATIONWRITTEN EXAMINATION

The exam may be computerized or traditional pencil and paper designed to test the objectives of the duties and minimum qualifications of the classification.
Under supervision, to perform accounting and auditing work manually or when required to operate an adding machine, and to perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Two years of full-time paid experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or a closely related position in the record-keeping field is required. Substitution:
One year of college accounting courses may substitute for each year of experience lacking. - Must be computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office Suite.

CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT (CMSD) PREFERENCE CREDITAn applicant who is a graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and is participating in an open competitive entrance‑level examination receives an additional five (5) points upon passing the examination. Applicants must provide acceptable proof of graduation from a CMSD school at the time of application to qualify for this credit.
VETERANS’ PREFERENCEVeterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214 must be presented to the Commission at the time of filing the application for the examination in which credit is sought to qualify for veteran's credit.
If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions, the applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination. If the applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service-connected disability, ten (10) points are added.
NOTE:
Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
