Under the direction of the General or Section Laboratory Supervisor, performs phlebotomy and specimen processing functions, waived and moderate complexity testing as defined by (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) CLIA Section 493.1421 and as approved by the Medical Director, and other non-technical duties as assigned.

Job Description- Receives, processes and transports specimens to laboratory sections and reference labs. Locates specimens that have “add-on tests” as well as other specimen processing duties.
- Centrifuge blood and urine specimens for analysis. Aliquot specimens and prepare for analysis. Checks work lists and reports for efficient specimen analysis.
- Performs waived and moderately complexity testing as defined by CLIA. Reports testing according to established protocols including evaluation of specimen acceptability
- Provides support functions to technologist including the loading and maintaining of instruments, assist in re-constituting reagents, thawing, pooling, of blood products, assists in maintenance and repair of clinical equipment.
- Completes all mandatory competencies and training modules along with review of all departmental policies and procedures and must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Greets patients using AIDET, evaluates orders for types of specimens and appropriate handling requirements and uses hospital and laboratory computer systems to obtain information and handle requests
- Safely collects quality samples according to laboratory policies and procedures (for the accurate and timely completion of testing). Uses a variety of devices to collect specimens, organizes and maintains supplies
- Enhances professional growth and development of self, department staff, other hospital personnel, community and students by participation in continuing education and in-service training and the School of Medical Technology
- Implements ICARE principles using communication skills and human relations to promote quality patient care and productive work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED
- Valid Driver’ License
- Computer skills

- Experience including customer service.
