Compensation: $14–$20 per hour, plus $350–$750 monthly commission.
Job SummarySVS Vision Opticians help customers achieve the right type of eyeglasses, lenses, or contact lenses based on their prescription and lifestyle. They work with optometrists and a team of eye care professionals to provide a rewarding experience by offering personalized customer service, styling eyewear, and ensuring proper lens selection.
Position SummaryProvide excellent patient and customer service in the selection, ordering, and dispensing of eyewear. Complete pre‑screening activities prior to patient exams. Prepare work orders for the Optical Lab. Process medical billing information. Maintain frame inventory.
Duties and Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer and patient service according to company and store standards;
Analyze patient eyewear needs;
Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames;
Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, ensuring frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions;
Order and dispense eyewear accurately and professionally;
Assist patients with proper frame repairs and adjustments;
Show patients how to insert, remove, and care for their contact lenses. - Business and Operational Standards: Maintain a complete knowledge of third‑party plans and claims;
Explain promotions and special lens offerings to patients and customers;
Balance accounts;
Prepare work orders containing specific instructions for Optical Lab;
Process medical billing information;
Ensure proper merchandising of frame inventory;
Confirm appointments;
Process transactions in the optical billing and point of sale systems;
Process medical billing information, including uploading all supporting documents to EHR;
Organize and file patient and customer records. - Minimum Knowledge, Experience & Skills Requirements: Maintain license as required by state;
High School Graduate or equivalent;
Previous experience in an office and/or optical dispensing setting is preferred;
Able to handle multiple customer interactions/phone calls at a time;
Able to work with patient eyewear needs, including analyzing prescriptions, repairs, adjustments, and lifestyle dispensing. - Essential Functions & Work Requirements: Effective communication at all levels through written and verbal means;
Read and write at a high school graduate level;
Sit or stand for extended periods;
Operate various office equipment (tablet, PC, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.);
Lift 10–20 pounds;
See (near, distance, color, and depth perception);
Manual and finger dexterity, hand/arm steadiness;
Grasp and hold items;
Good eye‑hand coordination;
Operate a cash register, optical equipment, and tools;
Adapt to changing policies and duties;
Work normal and extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends;
Travel between offices or independently as needed.
