About the Role
Coordinates activities involved with procuring indirect goods and services such as equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for organization by performing the following duties:
Key ResponsibilitiesCommodity Ownership & Sourcing
Own assigned commodity categories and sourcing strategy. Lead RFQs: define scope, evaluate bids, and negotiate pricing and terms. Select, onboard, and manage suppliers; maintain approved supplier list. Support Lead Buyer and execute commodity strategies aligned with business needs.
Supplier Management & Market Insight
Manage supplier relationships and performance. Monitor supplier capabilities, risks, and market trends. Evaluate supplier financial stability and capacity. Conduct market analysis, identify new sources, and assess global suppliers. Ensure supplier compliance with company standards.
Cost Savings & Value Delivery
Drive cost reduction using TCO, benchmarking, rate optimization, and consolidation. Develop and execute cost savings and cost avoidance plans. Track savings with Finance. Reduce inventory through supplier consolidation and planning. Align contracts to achieve best value for indirect spend.
Purchase Order & Contract Execution
Create and manage purchase orders, service agreements, and change orders. Review and support contracts (MSA, SOW, SLA, NDA, T&Cs). Negotiate short- and long-term agreements (1-, 3-, 5-year). Maintain contract documentation and compliance.
Data Integrity & Reporting
Maintain accurate data in SAP and procurement systems. Track costs, supplier performance, inventory, and procurement metrics. Analyze data using Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query). Maintain procurement records for audits and reporting.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Improve procurement processes, cycle time, and automation. Support catalog enablement and standardization. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethics, and audit requirements. Support speed-to-market through efficient purchasing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, IT, Finance, and Legal. Act as Regional Buyer to support local and global needs. Communicate with suppliers, internal teams, and leadership. Ensure cost, quality, timing, and technical requirements are met.
Special Projects
Support commodity strategy and procurement initiatives. Lead or assist with special projects. Ensure projects meet budget, timeline, and deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 2–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain.
- Proven track record of measurable cost savings and effective supplier negotiations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; creative, structured problem‑solving mindset.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- SAP Experience.
Education and Experience
- A master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and /or engineering and sales driven businesses.
- Experience working in a Germany‑based (international) organization.
- Preferred: exposure to automotive standards (supplier scorecards, APQP awareness for tooling/capex), basic TCO and should‑cost methods, and contract/SOW fundamentals.
