Job Summary

Supervises and directs all activities and employees in Inventory Control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Retention:
    Recruit and interview Inventory Control staff; communicate criteria to recruiters for Inventory Control position candidates; coach Inventory Control staff in the interviewing/hiring process; monitor team member turnover and identify factors for improvement.
  • Employee and Team Development:
    Identify individual and team strengths and development needs; create and/or validate training curriculum; coach and mentor staff to deliver excellence to internal and external customers; create and manage succession plans for Inventory Control function.
  • Performance Management:
    Establish clear measurable goals; solicit ongoing feedback from WCM, BUM, peers, and team members; provide ongoing coaching; recognize accomplishments; perform evaluations; drive continuous improvement in operational metrics and organizational goals; coordinate activities of large teams during crises; ensure fair recognition and rewards.
  • Communication:
    Provide weekly forum for exchange of ideas and information; organize ideas clearly in a business style; encourage input from staff.
  • Functional Management Responsibilities
  • Business Strategy and Direction:
    Understand campus strategic directions; define, develop, and implement an Inventory Control strategy; align with Workcell business strategy; provide regular updates to BUM, WCM, and Operations Manager on strategy execution.
  • Cost Management:
    Identify ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems; monitor departmental cost and trends; provide cost feedback to peers.
  • Technical Management Responsibilities:
    Monitor department performance; drive for dock-to-stock accuracy; optimize processing times; maintain supplies and equipment; ensure tools and visuals are up to date; provide feedback to Inventory Control and Quality; interface with other departments; supervise and coordinate shipment verification and stock accuracy; ensure material is stocked promptly; eliminate errors affecting budget and efficiency; recommend capital equipment and HR changes; comply with safety, health, and security procedures;

    may perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge Requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate regarding technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Ability to present information to top management.
  • Advanced PC skills, including knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
  • Ability to perform calculations and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret various instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and the ability to devise and implement strategies to achieve targets.
  • Strong financial and analytical abilities; proficiency in managing business analytics to optimize footprint.
  • Knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes and global customs regimes.
  • Proven change management experience and ability to drive productivity and cost reduction programs.
  • Strong and convincing communication skills; proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; five years’ experience, or an appropriate combination of education, experience, and/or training.
