The Value You'll BringJoin Smithfield Foods as the Senior Director, EHS Regulatory where you will play a role in shaping our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives. In this dynamic position, you will lead a talented Regulatory team dedicated to achieving 100% compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Agency (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), various other local, state, and federal regulations, and internal policies and systems.
In addition to overseeing compliance, you will direct the daily operations of our water facilities across Smithfield locations. Your expertise will be crucial in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines that align with all regulatory requirements.

What You'll DoThe below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. - Regulatory Compliance:
You will be accountable for establishing and maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations as well as Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS), PSM, ISO, EMS, and other corporate requirements. You will lead correspondence with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, Chemical Safety) and direct the EHS team on safety and environmental regulatory compliance issues. You will manage environmental permit compliance documentation and applications to agencies in a timely manner. - Regulatory Strategy:
You will lead the EHS team to create a uniform application of the company’s EHS system, promote best practices, ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies, and evaluate risk related to implementing programs to prevent injuries. You will act as a resource for the EHS team to develop innovation solutions to ensure a safe workplace. - Training and Development:
You will assist in writing, reviewing, and revising key documents such as Risk Management plans, Emergency Response Plans, and Environmental Permit tracking and compliance plans. You will assist with training facility personnel on relevant plans and participate in corporate training and business meetings as appropriate. - Operational Oversight:
You will be responsible for assuring water facilities maintain operational controls for effective performance in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. You will represent on construction and capital projects related to anhydrous ammonia systems and waste facility projects. You will schedule regulatory reviews with facilities to ensure compliance and promote community relations. - Program Development and Implementation:
You will assist in developing and implementing corporate policy, programs, systems, and training materials. You will assure, maintain, and improve EMS programs, conduct annual EMS internal audits, and review/assist with corrective action and objectives. - Leadership:
Drives a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.
