Unit Assembler

Overview

Mazak Corporation is looking for a Unit Assembler to join the Assembly team. The Unit Assembler will assemble, calibrate, and test precision units for machine tools, including headstock, spindles, turrets, ball screws, magazines, and other subassemblies for installation on machine tools.

• Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
• Clean and inspect parts prior to assembly.
• Set preloads on various types of bearings using precision equipment.
• Inspect and measure all parts needed for the unit to be assembled; adjust parts by grinding to obtain correct preloads.
• Assemble units taking many measurements with precision equipment during the process.
• Balance spindle assemblies on balancing equipment.
• Attach subassembly parts to prepare unit for testing.
• Test and operate unit.
• Conduct precision measurements using various precision gauges.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Use crane to lift various units.
• Transport units using a walk-behind forklift.

• High school diploma.
• Previous machine tool experience is preferred.
• Some college or trade school is preferred.

• Basic mechanical skills.
• Use of hand tools.
• Use of power tools.
• Use of precision instruments.
• Good math skills.
• Understanding of test stands for function check.
• Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
