What you’ll do:
- Evaluate raw material, ingredients, packaging materials, processing operations, and finished goods to ensure compliance to Gorton's/Specialty food safety, quality and legality issues.
- Coordinate lab functions and participate in sanitation efforts during cleaning operations.
- Examine all incoming raw materials, ingredients and packaging, compare results against established standards and take appropriate corrective action.
- Perform detailed examination of processing operation to determine compliance with established standards. When defective product or poor practice is observed, coordinate corrective action with production management.
- Review finished product including cooking of product to determine wholesomeness, product identity and character. When defective product is found, coordinate corrective action with production management.
- Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices and enforce product safety program by inspection of processing area, employee hygiene and practices, microbiological sampling and assisting in detailed audits.
- Maintain complete records of all inspection programs and examinations.
- Coordinate sanitation efforts in conjunction with shift supervisor and communicate results with relevant management after sanitation completion.
What you’ll need:
- Minimum high school diploma, bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- PCQI Certification preferred
- Experience working in a lab environment
- Familiarity with general calibration of lab equipment
- 1-2 years of experience in a quality inspection role, preferably in a dry food operation
- Strong personality and willingness to learn
- Knowledge of general GMPs and food safety

Pay Range: $54,870.40 - 64,480/Annual
Qualifications- Highest education: high school or better
- Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working in a lab environment and in a quality inspection role, preferably in a dry food operation
