A Mixing Supervisor leads day‑to‑day operations for an assigned production area in a chemical manufacturing environment. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient production; delivers to plan; maintains product quality and documentation; develops talent; and drives continuous improvement. The Mixing Supervisor is accountable for shift performance, resource planning, and cross‑functional coordination with Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain. The position is located at our Florence, Kentucky site and reports to the Senior Packaging Supervisor.
PositionResponsibilities
- Safety, Health & Environmental Leadership:
- Lead a strong safety culture; model compliance with plant EHS policies, chemical handling procedures, PPE, LOTO, and emergency response protocols.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and applicable environmental regulations and plant standards.
- Conduct safety talks, behavior‑based observations, near‑miss and incident reporting, and corrective action follow‑through.
- Verify safe operation of equipment, line changeovers, and cleanouts.
- Production Execution & Planning:
- Execute the daily/weekly production schedule, sequence work orders, assign operators, and manage tank changeovers and startup/shutdowns per SOPs.
- Monitor throughput, yield, and downtime; remove bottlenecks; coordinate with Maintenance for PM/CM priorities.
- Ensure raw materials, components, and packaging are available; collaborate with Materials/Logistics on staging and inventory accuracy.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation:
- Ensure products meet specifications through in‑process checks, sample pulls, and parameter control.
- Enforce adherence to batch records, master recipes, and quality procedures.
- Triage nonconformances, initiate containment, and partner with QA on investigations, CAPAs, and change control.
- Support audits and maintain inspection readiness.
- People Leadership & Development:
- Direct, coach, and develop operators/line leads; conduct on‑the‑job training for SOPs, quality checks, and safe equipment operation.
- Build staffing plans and oversee timekeeping, performance feedback, and recognition.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning; foster an inclusive, respectful work environment.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Control:
- Drive waste reduction, right‑first‑time, 5S, and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Track and improve key performance indicators such as safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people metrics.
- Recommend process, layout, and tooling improvements; partner with Engineering on trials and scale‑ups; validate changes using MOC.
- Cross‑Functional Communication:
- Provide clear shift handoffs, status updates, production summaries, and downtime reports.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, QA, EHS, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and meet customer commitments.
- Participate in tier meetings and contribute data‑driven recommendations.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical processing strongly preferred), including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- OSHA 30‑Hour General Industry certification, Process Safety Management (PSM) training, cGMP and Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) compliance training, formal supervisory/leadership training.
- At least 4 of the following certifications:
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt; ISO 9001 Internal or Lead…
