Overview

As the North American headquarters for G-TEKT Corporation, Jefferson Industries actively participates in the Global Automotive Industry. Our teams design and develop press dies and other tools necessary for automotive production. We support high quality manufacturing with a flexible approach to meet customer needs.

The Team Leader will join the Material Services team on 2nd Shift (core schedule, Monday through Thursday, 4:00 pm to 12:30 am and Friday 3:30 pm to 12:00 am). Team Leaders model professionalism, teamwork, and performance while supporting JIC plans, policies, and operations. They motivate associates, solve problems proactively, and communicate follow‑up actions.

Job Duties
  • Support safety program by promoting safety, providing training opportunities, and enforcing safety policies.
  • Track and monitor associate safety to meet established target goals.
  • Ensure associates perform a copy of their areas.
  • Model for attendance; expected to work unless their absence has been planned and approved in advance.
  • Complete daily tasks efficiently, maximizing production for both shifts.
  • Fill in for vacations and absences while maintaining team leader activities.
  • Ensure daily work prevents acceptance, creation, and passing on of bad parts.
  • Communicate and address shortages or quality issues so root causes can be identified and counter measured.
  • Follow‑up communication with other shifts; retrain associates, with teamwork as a key focus.
  • Train and follow up to ensure all start‑up, tugger, and forklift checks are done correctly and on time.
  • Observe breaks and lunch periods, staggering them with management so a leadership member is always on the floor.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before shift start, prepared for work and using the time for communication and planning.
  • Be available and in the area of responsibility except when at lunch or break; if away longer, associates should know how to reach you.
  • Train all associates in the area of responsibility to perform their jobs correctly; follow up regularly to ensure correct procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
  • Prior forklift and tugger experience preferred; otherwise, must obtain certification within 6 months of starting.
  • Prior computer experience required; PLEX and Excel experience preferred.
  • Understanding of JIC's production and quality requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must communicate with management and customers daily.
  • Ability to train and direct associates to meet daily work requirements.
  • Detail‑oriented and highly accurate.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Fast learner and able to work under time pressure.
