About the Role
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager and operating under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. The role supports plasma center operations, including donor eligibility assessment, adverse event management, laboratory result review, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, assist with developing Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support HepatitisB and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees and manage employee incidents per occupational health and EHS guidance.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, support investigations associated with pandemic threats per EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate‑degree‑equivalent recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state of assignment as LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state basic IV therapy requirements.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44 (subject to qualifications, experience, and location in Columbus, OH).
