Seasonal Operations Maintenance Technician
Operations Maintenance Technician (Seasonal, Non Exempt)
Rate: $15.00 per hour
Pay Grade: SEA | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.
Location: Various Lake Metroparks locations throughout Lake County, Ohio
Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Park Maintenance Superintendent or Park Maintenance Regional Supervisor, the Operations Maintenance Technician performs a variety of building, grounds, custodial, and landscape maintenance tasks at Lake Metroparks parks and facilities. This position plays a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces for park visitors.
This position is seasonal and requires flexibility to work up to 28 hours per week
, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Performing daily custodial and janitorial duties in park buildings, restrooms, shelters, and public areas
- Completing mowing, landscaping, grounds maintenance, and seasonal snow and ice control
- Assisting with basic repairs to park facilities, including plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance tasks
- Operating and maintaining Park District vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Assisting with special projects such as trail maintenance, construction of park amenities, and tree removal
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and visitor-friendly park environment
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of hire
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in building and grounds maintenance, janitorial services, landscaping, or mechanical maintenance preferred
- Valid driver's license required and must be insurable under the Agency's policy
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and light maintenance equipment
- Willingness to work an irregular schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Successful completion of a preemployment background check
- Completion of required Park District training, including safety and PPE training
- OPERS membership (Ohio Public Employees Retirement System)
- Northeastern Ohio Inter-Museum Council Membership
