- As a Store Director, manage a large team of hourly team members and leaders, including leaders of leaders.
- Recruit, select, manage talent and plan talent across all departments of the store.
- Build guest service fundamentals and a guest-first culture across the store.
- Understand retail business financials (payroll, profit and loss) and drive sales growth.
- Create store-specific strategies and lead the team to deliver results.
- Understand total store fundamentals: sales trends, inventory management, guest insights, pricing and promotions, and specialty businesses.
- Set and plan total store quarterly business priorities and manage the team to meet sales goals.
- Make business decisions based on market competition and customer feedback.
- Develop a culture that is accountable and adheres to safety and compliance standards.
- Own the safety culture, security processes, and merchandise protection aligned with best practices.
- Lead and sustain ethical conduct, safety, and compliance across the store.
- Cultivate a guest-centric and engaged team through onboarding, development and growth of leaders.
- Drive accountability with clear expectations and performance management.
- Partner with HR to deliver equitable talent strategies and support career progression.
- Be approachable and create a culture where issues are resolved promptly.
- Recruit, hire and retain a knowledgeable team; oversee scheduling to meet business needs and guest experience.
- Ensure leadership schedules align with guest and business needs, including weekends, mornings, evenings, overnight and seasonal adjustments.
- Promote inclusivity and equitable experiences; invest in and monitor training completion.
- Engage with guests to assist and solve their needs; thank guests for shopping at Target.
- Balance in-store and digital guest needs to achieve store sales and operational goals; promote Target benefits and offerings.
- Own the store’s overall business to drive efficiency, safety and growth in sales.
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team leadership and engagement ability.
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable; relate well with all levels of the organization.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude; ability to manage workload and priorities independently.
- Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.
- Ability to operate handheld scanners and other technology; effective communication across multiple devices.
Physical Requirements
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
- Climb ladders; lift up to 44 pounds; work in varying temperatures and humidity depending on role.
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays; ability to stay mobile during shifts.
