Job Overview
Produce Clerk – Non-Exempt, Department:
Produce.
- Provide prompt, efficient, friendly customer service and greet customers by name whenever possible.
- Assist customers in locating and securing products, including escorting them to items, loading or unloading heavy items, and handling customer requests.
- Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
- Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain a pleasant work environment.
- Maintain proper sanitation and keep the work area clean and neat at all times.
- Review the status and appearance of merchandise for freshness, replenish and rotate product as needed.
- Ensure an adequate product supply is ready and on hand, develop or follow a production list, and anticipate product needs daily.
- Check in products, put products away, review invoices, and remove trash in a timely manner.
- Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary.
- Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene, dress, and policies.
- Report to work on schedule and on time.
- Order product and supplies as needed.
- Price products for customers where required.
- Deliver orders as needed.
- Assist in other areas of the store as required.
- Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Minimum education:
Less than high school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Six months or less of similar or related work experience. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, perform basic addition, copy figures, count, record data, and request supplies orally or in writing.
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Vision requirement: clear vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, including depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
WorkingConditions
This position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes and dampness, possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. The environment is fast paced.
Equipment UsedKnives, wrapping machine, cash register, pallet jack, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, and calculator.
SalaryHourly starting wage $11.50 to $14.40 depending on experience.
