Overview
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving commercial roofing sales through technical expertise, disciplined sales execution, and strong operational alignment. This role requires a consultative sales professional who can manage long-cycle commercial opportunities, conduct accurate inspections, coordinate closely with operations, and build long-term customer relationships.
Responsibilities- Conduct on-site commercial roof inspections, measurements, and preliminary scoping.
- Align sales activity with General Managers, Superintendents, Survey Technicians, and Estimating.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead qualification through close.
- Ensure accurate site data handoff for estimating and proposals.
- Utilize CRM to manage pipeline, documentation, and forecasting.
- Build trust-based customer and manufacturer relationships.
- Represent company standards and brand professionally.
- Meet defined sales activity and revenue expectations.
- Participate in sales meetings online and/or in person as required.
- Proactively generate new business through referrals and outreach.
- Participate in sales, manufacturer, and industry training.
- Assist with customer education on incentives and roofing options.
- Support mentoring of new sales reps when needed.
- Ability to safely access and inspect commercial rooftops.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to travel locally.
- 3–5+ years of outside or B2B sales experience.
- Experience managing long sales cycles.
- CRM proficiency and sales process discipline.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial roofing or construction experience.
- Experience working closely with operations teams.
- Existing commercial account relationships.
- High accountability and self-motivation.
- Strong collaboration with operations and leadership.
- Persistence and professionalism.
- Ongoing training participation.
- Contribution to team culture.
- Ability to meet physical demands of roof inspections.
- Successful completion of background, drug, and motor vehicle checks.
