Gas Locate Technician

Overview

We are looking for individuals to join the Advanced Gas Operations (AGO) division who consider themselves problem solvers, take pride in public safety, and thrive in a fast‑paced, exciting work environment.

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
• Some hand digging may be required to unearth gas lines.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
• Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
• Locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project to which you are assigned.
• Work day‑time, full‑time positions with a 48‑hour turnaround on many locates.
• Be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on‑call shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Proficiency with technology: able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
