Job Profile
Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level – Individual Contributor. Hourly base pay: $26.73 – $40.10, with potential commission or incentive. Works remotely within a specified locality and travels 100% of the time. Flexible work hour options.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, alternators, cooling fans, engine electronics, steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Conduct road tests, use handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions, and document findings via the TRAIT application.
- Maintain and manage company‑issued service truck, including safety checks, pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, and parts inventory reconciliation.
- Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
- Complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly and accurately.
- Operate independently, manage daily schedule, and meet standard repair times.
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (or 5 years of experience).
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be 21 years or older.
- Must pass a DOT‑regulated background check and physical, or present a DOT medical card with at least 4 months validity.
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Preferred additional ASE certifications: T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), 608/609 (Air‑conditioning).
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform repetitive tasks.
- Effective communication and two‑way interaction with clients and team members.
- Logical reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and make sound judgments.
