Sr Mobile Diesel mechanic

Overview

Senior Mobile Diesel Technician (DOT Management Level) – responsible for performing DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and related duties in a mobile/field environment.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
• Conduct follow‑up repairs, minor adjustments, and advanced repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, engine electronics, diesel steering, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and electronic components using appropriate tools and test instruments.
• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment; use handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other instruments to determine malfunctions.
• Road‑test vehicles to verify functionality and ensure proper operation.
• Manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and support procurement from approved vendors.
• Operate and maintain company‑issued service vehicle; perform safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Communicate effectively with clients, customers, and support teams to assess needs, provide information, and resolve issues.
• Prioritize concurrent tasks, manage own schedule, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
• Document work and upload images to Repair Orders (RO) via the company’s iOS device and TRAIT application.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner.
• Comply with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience; or a degree/certification plus 5 years of experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Must be at least 21 years old and capable of completing DOT‑regulated background screening and physical.
• Hold a current DOT medical card with more than 4 months until expiration, or be willing to obtain a DOT physical.

• ASE T8 (PMI) certification
• ASE 608/609 certification
• Additional ASE qualifications preferred: T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, L1, L2

• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Physical fitness to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Effective two‑way communication and succinct information delivery.
• Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment.
