Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties in addition to his or her own. They are responsible for the accurate storing, shipping and receiving of product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
Responsibilities- Receiving/Put‑Away: unload inbound shipments, input data into WMS, stack and store product, maintain an organized work area.
- Order Picking: pull and prepare for shipment, ensure correct quantity, perform picking duties, prepare freight accurately and timely.
- Quality: ensure shipments are accurate and free of damage, report quality variances.
- Delivery: move product from staging or storage to production lines, provide proper documentation.
- Record Keeping: keep records and reports to ensure inventory control and security, assist in physical inventories, ensure proper stock rotation.
- Safety, Housekeeping and Compliance: maintain a clean, neat work area, comply with SOPs, assist in security of the warehouse.
- Equipment Operation: load, unload, stack and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment or other power equipment; maintain equipment neat; inspect and perform minor maintenance; operate safely; maintain active forklift certification.
- Maintenance: assist in building, grounds and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties (Site Specific): change fuel tanks on forklifts, participate in physical inventories, labeling, sorting, wrapping, repacking, repair pallets, maintain facility, perform other duties as required, work overtime if dictated by business.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 months experience in a logistics, distribution or relevant environment.
- Ability to operate MHE.
- Work in temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.
- Completion of a forklift training program.
- 1‑2 years experience in a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
- 1‑2 years forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
- Walking and standing.
- Lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling 21‑50 pounds.
- Reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat or kneel.
- Occasionally, frequently and constantly performing walking, standing and lifting tasks.
The work environment is low to moderate noise level. Employees are rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles or toxic or caustic chemicals.
