Highway Technician 1 (District 4 - Trumbull County)
Location:
Trumbull County Maintenance Facility, 5140 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505
Schedule:
Full‑time (7:00 am – 3:30 pm)
Union: OCSEA
What You Will Do- Serve the public and work to make the roads in Ohio safer.
- Perform highway maintenance activities, including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
- Perform snow & ice operations.

- Formal education in arithmetic (addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions) and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
- Three months of training or three months of experience operating basic equipment.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement (no air‑brake restriction).
- Knowledge and experience in Highway Maintenance, Transportation, Equipment Operations, CDL.

- Position is overtime eligible based on FLSA standards.
- All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one‑year probationary period.
- Position will be filled pursuant to the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
- Final candidates must undergo a criminal background check.
- Final candidates must submit to urinalysis for drug testing; a positive test results in no job offer; the position follows federal testing regulations (49 CFR Part 40 and Part 382) prohibiting marijuana use.
