Job Summary
The Transportation Manager will own the operational execution and transportation budget for both domestic and international freight spend. This role will ensure the carriers/vendors meet KPI targets and report out results of KPIs and budget to leadership. The Transportation Manager role will have direct reports to support domestic and international transportation operations as well as cost savings and continuous improvement analyses and project management.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of analysts to execute our operations effectively. Bring strong leadership and communication skills to drive world class operations through our internal and external partners.
- Carrier/Vendor relationship management. Manage the RFP cycle and process to ensure the best carrier/vendor supports domestic and international transportation to meet budget and service KPIs. Manage contract language to match operational needs. Negotiate terms and rates with carriers and ensure day‑to‑day operations are set up to meet budget and KPI targets. Ensure the carrier TMS and reporting is set up to support the full operation and report on accurate results.
- Provide leadership updates ensuring the transportation program is built to meet company goals and report results to those goals. Evaluate reporting to suggest efficiencies to better the business and improve operation and budget in the future.
- Generate project‑based work to drive continuous improvement, operational efficiencies, and cost savings opportunities.
- Partner with cross‑functional supply chain teams to set up a program that benefits the company and cross‑functional partners most effectively and drive continuous improvement through cross‑functional accountability.
Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field.
Experience- 4-7 years of preferred experience.
- Experience in supply chain, specifically transportation; direct engagement regularly with vendors/carriers; operational experience in transportation.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to problem solve and review data to drive action.
- Analytical mindset that translates to operational execution.
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $99,700.00 and $ per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs. For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
