Peace Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Medical for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $40.11 – $60.17. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
Job SummaryCares for the cardio‑pulmonary needs of all assigned patients, from those undergoing routine diagnostic procedures to those requiring complex critical care support, intervention, and transport support, as applicable to the care setting. The work requires a team focus, collaborating with all members of the healthcare team to achieve the best outcome for the patient and organization.
Details of the Position- Provides respiratory care, including diagnostic testing, oxygen and medication delivery, bronchial hygiene, arterial/capillary blood gas draw and analysis, advanced airway, and life support.
- Patient assessment, including monitoring labs, hemodynamics, and radiology findings; assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individual patient care appropriate to the patient’s age.
- Calibrates, cleans, sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots all patient‑related equipment and instruments; assembles and stores cleaned equipment.
- Participates in in‑house educational in‑services, inter/intra‑departmental training, and external seminars and workshops as requested by the Manager.
- Participates in various intermittent department tasks, including audits, quality assurance, statistical record keeping, patient charting, and other special projects as specified by the Manager.
- May serve on trauma, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and rapid response teams.
- Responsible for ventilator and Non‑invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV) management, ensuring safe, evidence‑based settings with appropriate changes.
- May be trained as a core therapist in an ICU or diagnostics area (e.g., PFT or Sleep Lab) to meet department needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Accredited Respiratory Care Program (2‑year AMA‑approved or state‑approved alternative).
- Must pass the NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist exam within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 2 years preferred experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Minimum of 1 year preferred experience in a pulmonary function lab.
- Preferred experience in ICU, Pediatrics, or Obstetrics.
- Required:
Respiratory Care Practitioner certification in Oregon. - Required:
Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist within 6 months of hire. - Required:
Basic Life Support certification. - ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- May be trained as Pulmonary Rehab Therapist or in cardio‑pulmonary diagnostic testing (PFT, cardiac & pulmonary monitors, cardiac stress testing) to meet outpatient needs.
- CPFT or RPFT certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of electronic EMR systems and EPIC.
- Knowledge of Sensormedics equipment a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Required).
- Must be able to set up, operate, and troubleshoot all respiratory or pulmonary function equipment efficiently (Required).
- Must be able to quickly assess acute, critical care situations and respond decisively (Required).
- Good time‑management skills (Required).
