Join our team as a Produce Clerk and be part of creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service! You will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while upholding our quality assurance standards. - Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries and suggestions.
- Assist with the preparation of produce platters and trays.
- Inform customers about current produce specials.
- Recommend products to help customers fulfill their needs.
- Prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of merchandise effectively.
- Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action as needed.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report any product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
- Stay updated on present, future, and seasonal promotions.
- Ensure proper temperature controls in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Promote safety by following procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting any repair needs.
- Notify management of any customer or employee incidents.
- Report safety risks, illegal activity, and theft to store management.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable and non-confrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Must obtain a food handlers permit once employed.
- Retail experience is a plus.
- Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language is desirable.
