• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries and suggestions.
• Assist with the preparation of produce platters and trays.
• Inform customers about current produce specials.
• Recommend products to help customers fulfill their needs.
• Prepare, package, label, and manage inventory of merchandise effectively.
• Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report any product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
• Stay updated on present, future, and seasonal promotions.
• Ensure proper temperature controls in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote safety by following procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting any repair needs.
• Notify management of any customer or employee incidents.
• Report safety risks, illegal activity, and theft to store management.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts in a reasonable and non-confrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.
• Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Must obtain a food handlers permit once employed.

• Retail experience is a plus.
• Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language is desirable.
