Role Description The Accounting Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Florence, SC. This role supports the finance and accounting department in managing the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions for the cooperative and its family of for-profit subsidiary entities. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, comfort navigating both cooperative (patronage-based) and for-profit accounting frameworks, and the organizational skill to manage consolidated and standalone financial reporting across a multiple legal entities.
The role also involves working closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors, maintaining internal controls, and supporting process improvements across the finance function.
Qualifications
- Strong financial reporting skills, including experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Proficiency in core accounting activities such as journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and fixed asset accounting.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and finance knowledge to interpret financial data, support budgeting, and inform business decisions.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems, and solid skills in spreadsheet and data analysis tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is required.
- Prior experience in an accounting leadership role, ideally within utilities, cooperatives, or related industries.
- Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes, with attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Effective communication, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site.
