Job Description
The General Sessions Legal Records Clerk III performs a variety of processes to ensure the efficient operation of the administrative office of General Sessions.
Essential Functions- Responsible for data entry of warrants, bonds, and related documents received by transmittal from Magistrate Court, City Court, and other agencies.
- Ensures that appropriate documents are submitted to the Solicitor and Public Defender’s office.
- Answers a high volume of telephone calls
- Performs a variety of clerical duties, to include filing, copying, processing, clocking and certifying documents and creating files.
- Clocks and sorts all incoming mail.
- Responds to all records requests.
- Disposes cases to include remands and dismissals.
- Inputs all expungement orders received from Solicitor’s office and collects appropriate fees.
- Interacts professionally with attorneys, defendants and the public.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Education and Work Experience
- Requires vocational/technical diploma in paralegal studies or related field supplemented by three to five years of legal experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Must be a S.C. Notary Public.

- Frequently required to perform basic physical activities and communicate effectively to carry out essential job duties.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move and lift 10 lb. objects regularly.
- Correctable vision sufficient to read monitors, labels, and drive safely.
