Location: South Carolina (Remote)
Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking a passionate and creative Middle School Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher to join our growing team. This position will be full‑time for the 2026–27 school year, serving 6th–8th grade students, and requires certification in English and History. The teacher will lead engaging, standards‑aligned instruction in both subjects while partnering closely with families in our virtual learning environment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusion, skilled in virtual instruction, and committed to building strong relationships with families and students.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging live and asynchronous instruction in Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies (Humanities) aligned with South Carolina state standards for grades 6–8.
• Foster students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, critical thinking, historical analysis, and civic literacy.
• Design learning experiences that integrate ELA and Social Studies through cross‑curricular projects, discussion, and inquiry‑based learning when appropriate.
• Provide timely, meaningful feedback on student work and maintain consistent communication with students and parents.
• Support at‑home learning by providing clear guidance, resources, and encouragement to families.
• Track student progress across both subject areas, provide interventions when needed, and collaborate with support staff to ensure student success.
• Collaborate with the Colearn instructional team to maintain consistency across grade levels and courses.
• Participate in virtual staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing learning opportunities.
• Maintain accurate grade books, lesson documentation, and compliance requirements in the learning management system.

Qualifications

• Must reside in South Carolina
• Valid South Carolina teaching certification in English Language Arts and Social Studies/History (Middle School)
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related content area (Master’s preferred)
• Experience teaching middle school students (grades 6–8) in ELA, Social Studies, or a humanities‑based model
• Strong knowledge of South Carolina state standards for both ELA and Social Studies
• Experience delivering live and asynchronous instruction in a virtual or blended environment (preferred)
• Ability to integrate reading, writing, discussion, and historical thinking across content areas
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to partner effectively with parents in an at‑home learning model
• Experience using learning management systems (Canvas, Schoology, or similar) and digital instructional tools
• Ability to track student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement interventions when needed
• Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional learning
