Soft Skills Training Instructor; Pool

readySC™ is a part of the Economic Development Division of the South Carolina Technical College System. We promote economic and workforce development for the State of SC by providing customized training for new and expanding business and industry in the State of SC.

The primary duty of the Soft Skills Training Instructor is to deliver classroom training according to project scope, using and following pre-approved training curricula. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Facilitate classroom training on topics such as Leadership, Team Building, Effective Communication Skills, 5S and Lean Manufacturing Concepts, Train the Trainer.
• Effectively use current technology (laptop, projector, PowerPoint, etc.) in the classroom for course delivery.
• Prepare facilitation/delivery, materials, and classroom setup prior to class start.
• Ensure proper documentation on all class paperwork and handle it securely.
• Create a positive and welcoming learning environment.
• Establish interaction with and amongst participants.
• Use a facilitative training method to engage participants and limit lecture of content.
• Follow prescribed training curriculum.
• Reinforce learning by making connections to training objectives and workplace application.
• Evaluate participants on the demonstration of key skills.
• Provide constructive feedback to participants in a professional and respectful manner.
• Respectfully manage basic difficult behaviors in the classroom.
• Strive to continuously improve classroom facilitation skills based on current best practices.

A bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in corporate training and development, manufacturing, and/or military training; or an associate’s degree and two (2) years relevant experience in corporate training and development, manufacturing, and/or military training; or a high school diploma and four (4) years relevant experience in corporate training and development, manufacturing, and/or military training.

• Previous experience facilitating soft skills training in a classroom environment, preferably in industry.
• Candidates should be able to work independently, be self-directing, have good verbal and written skills, and be available for flexible training hours.
• Familiarity with manufacturing production environments and curriculum development is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory.
• Knowledge of leadership and process improvement principles.
• Highly competent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Personal Computer skills in the major office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PPT.

This position will be located at Spartanburg Community College - 1875 E Main St, Duncan, SC 29334. Frequent travel within the SCC service area that includes Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties is required.
