Training Instructor / Specialist
Provide classroom instruction for students, academic advising, assist in graduate placement, attend graduation ceremonies, assist with student orientation/registration, revise curricula, develop new courses, design new programs, revise instruction materials, remain current in teaching field, work on college committees and promote institutional objectives.
Job Functions- Provide high quality instruction, teach courses as assigned, provide students with course documentation, demonstrate effective interaction skills, relate instruction/materials to course objectives, develop creative class activities, use various teaching techniques, organize instruction.
- Provide academic advising, assist with recruitment, develop and implement successful retention activities, assist in graduate placement, assist in student orientation/registration, provide appropriate safety instruction.
- Manage classroom/lab. clinic activities in an orderly manner, hold 8 office hours per week, submit all required reports in a timely manner, prepare budget projections for equipment and supplies, practice good housekeeping, repair equipment as appropriate.
- Design new programs, revise curricula, develop new courses, develop and revise instructional materials for current courses, participate in advisory committees.
- Work on college committees, perform public service for the college, supervise/chaperon student events, promote the purpose and institutional objections of the college, build rapport with employers of graduates.
Associate degree or higher in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, or a closely related technical field. One (1) to five (5) years of relevant industrial experience in mechatronics, industrial maintenance, manufacturing automation, or related field. A demonstrated hands‑on knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:
Industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting motor controls and relay logic, programmable logic controllers (PLC's); industrial automation and control systems; mechanical power transmission systems; pneumatics and hydraulics; sensors, switches, and industrial instrumentation; electrical schematics; wiring diagrams, and print reading. Industrial Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Ability to provide hands‑on laboratory instruction and demonstrate the proper use of industrial tools, test equipment, and training systems.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to advise students, maintain instructional records, assess student learning, and perform required instructional and administrative duties.
The minimum as listed, plus experience with industrial robotics, CNC/manufacturing automation, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor controls, and automated manufacturing systems. Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computer‑controlled systems. Industry recognized certifications or documented specialized technical training preferred. Prior teaching, technical training, apprenticeship instruction, or work‑force development experience is preferred.
Supplemental Information Anticipated Work HoursMonday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm, Friday, 8:00 am - 11:30 am (or adherence to class schedule).
