Job Summary
AESC is looking to add an Engineer 3 Maintenance to our team in Columbia, SC. This full‑time, on‑site position will be part of the launch team for AESC’s EV and ESS gigafactories.

AESC’s South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology‑leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group’s Spartanburg plant.
About the RoleAs an Equipment Maintenance Engineer (Level
3), you will be an integral member of the core launch team for AESC’s electric vehicle and energy storage system gigafactories. You will be responsible for equipment buy‑off, SOP development, and managing new and minor model programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring plant operations run smoothly by providing daily production support, driving efficiency improvements, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
You will maintain equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and foster a culture of safety and compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in equipment design and drawing reviews with the global project team.
- Create and maintain the project schedule related to the maintenance team’s activities.
- Support equipment buy‑off, installation, and integration of new battery plant equipment/processes in the new facility.
- Provide training and documentation to maintenance personnel for new and existing equipment; report the status of new equipment to management.
- Maintain and update documentation of both new and existing systems, including electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Provide system problem‑solving to ensure continuous reliability and uptime improvements for assigned equipment and systems.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Safety goals are met and cost‑reduction objectives are achieved.
- Drive improvements in the plant’s preventive maintenance system, implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and PM Optimization.
- Ensure compliance with 5S, IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and ISO
14001 standards, proactively addressing safety concerns to prevent accidents. - Complete other duties as assigned.
- Four‑year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology (relevant experience may be substituted).
- Minimum of 3+ years of related equipment maintenance engineering experience in a professional capacity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer programming languages, CMMS systems, computer systems development, and basic purchasing processes.
- Expertise in data mining of equipment faults and failures, using techniques such as Root Cause Failure Analysis and the 5 Why approach.
- Troubleshooting and programming experience for electrical control systems, motors, robotics, and PLCs.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, vacuum systems, bearings, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to create presentations for data analysis, RCA, or project status updates.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards (training provided if needed).
- Familiarity with ISO
14001 environmental standards (training provided if needed).
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for equipment buy‑off, installation, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Nice to Have- Experience working in a high‑volume manufacturing facility.
