Toyota’s Chassis Design and Platform Development (CDPF) team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Brake Design Engineer to help shape the next generation of vehicles. This is an opportunity to work on advanced brake systems and chassis control technologies that directly influence vehicle safety, performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction across North America and global markets.
What You'll Be Doing- Analyze vehicle performance requirements and develop brake system specifications that achieve performance, quality, durability, and safety targets while supporting future vehicle programs.
- Design and develop electronic brake control functions that enhance both on-road and off-road driving experiences while integrating with next-generation vehicle platforms and powertrains.
- Apply engineering expertise to brake hardware design, ensuring components meet strength, durability, reliability, and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, manufacturing partners, suppliers, purchasing organizations, and global stakeholders to transform concepts into production-ready components and systems.
- Lead technical problem-solving activities, identify root causes, and implement effective countermeasures that drive continuous improvement and product excellence.
- Contribute to multiple vehicle programs, gaining exposure to a wide range of chassis systems and technologies while continuously expanding your technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree that provides a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience where you've designed and developed mechanical components, systems, or vehicle-related products from concept through implementation.
- Experience creating and releasing engineering drawings using 2D or 3D design tools while supporting product development and manufacturing processes.
- Proven project coordination experience partnering with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve business and technical objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience performing root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Knowledge of brake system fundamentals, component interactions, industry processes, and applicable regulations that support successful product development.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally and support business needs, including occasional overtime when required.
- Experience with CATIA or other CAD platforms that can help accelerate design and development activities.
- Experience creating and releasing Toyota engineering drawings or supporting Toyota design development processes.
- Knowledge of Toyota Business Practices and structured problem-solving methodologies that support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hands‑on experience repairing, modifying, testing, or working directly with chassis components and systems.
