Overview
As a K-12 school-based Physical Therapist in Bennettsville, SC, you will evaluate and provide therapy to students within the educational setting. Your days will include developing and implementing individualized therapy plans, providing direct physical therapy services, and collaborating with school staff to support student participation and safety.
Job Details- Position:
Contract (option to renew) in a school setting - Hours:
Full-time (Monday - Friday) 37.5 hrs - Caseload:
Elementary, Middle, and High School options. Large developmental disability population, ages 3+. Working in at least 2 schools in the district, approximately 20 student caseload
- Evaluate students’ gross motor skills, strength, balance, posture, and mobility within the educational setting
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans (IEPs/504s) tailored to each student’s educational and functional goals
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students individually or in small groups as outlined in their plans
- Consult with teachers, aides, and school staff to adapt activities and environments to support student participation and safety
- Document evaluations, therapy sessions, progress notes, and maintain compliance with district, state, and federal requirements (including IDEA regulations)
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and parent conferences
- Train school personnel on safe lifting, mobility assistance, and classroom accessibility strategies
- Monitor, recommend, and assist with the use of adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and environmental modifications as needed
- Stay informed on best practices and new developments in pediatric and school-based physical therapy
- Active or pending State Licensure, or ability to obtain (preferred)
- Department of Education Licensure, if applicable
- Experience in a pediatric or school setting (preferred)
- Ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
