Essential Functions
- Obtain patient home medication lists from relevant sources; including but not limited to patient or family interview, discharge medication lists, prescription bottles, and phone calls to retail pharmacies, physician offices, and nursing or group homes. Document in the electronic medical record and clarify allergy information as well as home pharmacy.
- Communicate relevant medication and allergy information to a pharmacist and other members of the healthcare team. Promote the safe and effective use of hospital and pharmacy technology throughout the McLeod Health System. Work with all other departments to ensure accurate and timely medication history collection.
- Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
- Obtain and/or clarify patient allergies.
- Understand the components of the patient medication profile.
- Document patient home medication lists, allergy information, and preferred pharmacy in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pharmacy printers, copiers, and fax machines (change paper and ink/ribbon/toner, reset printers, etc.).
- Facilitate or direct medication‑related questions to a pharmacist.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and huddles.
- Assist the Pharmacist in the operation of the inpatient drug distribution system.
80 hours biweekly. Full time. 1:30 pm – Midnight.
Qualifications / Training- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior job‑related experience.
- South Carolina State Pharmacy Technician Certification.
- Pharmacy Tech National Certification.
