Bed Control Coordinator - Non RN

Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordination of transportation of patients, including alternative modes as needed.
• Completes daily checks for pre-scheduled trips to confirm appointment and pick up times.
• Coordinate ambulance transfers from the McLeod Health hospitals to other facilities and post-acute care providers.
• Monitors projected discharges and transfers per unit daily.
• Utilizes appropriate resources for transport, i.e., Heart Reach, air medical, contracted providers.
• Responsible for the placement of inpatient/observation patients, following the review of admission/discharge/transfer (ADT) orders and bed requests, in conjunction with physician documentation.
• Works with Transfer Coordinator to manage patient admissions, transfers and placement within the capacity and capabilities of each facility/unit.
• Utilizes his/her knowledge and expertise to facilitate safe and efficient patient throughput focusing on placing the right patient in the right bed at the right time.
• Coordinate and strategize the complex placement of incoming admissions, inter-hospital transfers, and post-operative patients in accordance with hospital policies, using EPIC Bed Planning software.
• All other duties as assigned.

The Patient Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely patient assignment and transportation based on needed service(s), level of care and equipment.

• Minimum of 1 year healthcare experience or training.

• High School/GED
