Overview

- Schedules all procedures and ensures appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected.
- Receives requests to schedule procedures and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines.
- Coordinates activities related to patient surgery scheduling within the peri‑operative environment and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.
- High school diploma or equivalent education and two‑to‑three years of related work experience, or Associates Degree with one to two years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree with one‑year related work experience.
- Considerable knowledge and skill in OR scheduling techniques.
- Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes preferred.
- Typing speed of 35 words per minute and computer experience required.

- Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working from elevated areas, confined spaces, kneeling positions, bending, twisting at the waist, squatting, gross motor activities, firm grasp, reach overhead, repetitive hand/wrist/shoulder motions, balance, and coordination.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted; lift and lower 50 lbs. from/to floor or 36 inches; lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.; exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one or both eyes; sight and hearing acuity with correction; fine motor and gross motor functions.
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations; work rotating shifts, overtime, in latex‑safe environment; maintain tactile and olfactory sensory functions; qualify for respirator use.
