Director of Staff Development (DSD) – RN/LPN

Are you a motivated nurse leader who is passionate about education, staff development, and clinical excellence? We are seeking a dynamic Director of Staff Development (DSD) to oversee training, orientation, competency validation, and regulatory compliance in our Long-Term Care facility.
This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys mentoring others, collaborating with leadership, and maintaining survey readiness - while also stepping in clinically when needed.
Position OverviewAs the DSD, you will lead all staff education programs, support recruitment and onboarding efforts, and work closely with Human Resources and department heads to ensure the facility is fully staffed with qualified, well-trained team members. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance, strengthening clinical skills, and promoting a culture of accountability and resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and implement facility-wide in-service and education programs
- Help conduct orientation for all new hires
- Provide ongoing education and skills training for all departments
- Collaborate with Human Resources to support staffing and recruitment
- Review applications, assist with interviews, and verify licensure/certifications
- Conduct annual and as-needed clinical competency evaluations for nurses and CNAs
- Ensure compliance with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
- Maintain training records and employee file documentation
- Participate in on-call supervisor rotation
- Support departmental staffing as needed
- Active, unrestricted South Carolina RN or LPN license
- Minimum 2 years of long-term care experience
- Previous leadership, education, or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance administrative duties with hands-on clinical support
