Position: IT - Technical Engineer - OM Ships
KEY RES U LT ARE AS

Architecture

Responsible for all IT infrastructures (networks (LAN, WAN), servers, system software and tools, etc.) for OM Ships (Mosbach, Ships, Florence, remote users, etc.) in order for OMSI to be able to efficiently and effectively operate its IT tools.Core activities

• Identify/Propose all modifications, changes or new designs for the infrastructure.
• Identify/Agree on external service providers, such as, web hosting sites.

Security

Play a significant role in designing and implementing our security systems in order to help ensure our IT systems are safe.Core activities

• Audit security systems against agreed plans/policies.
• Monitor logs and systems for signs of breaches/non compliances.
• Remains current on the potential security risks from external parties and ensures the most recent security protection is available.
• Help bring a 'security first' mindset to new systems implementations.

Business Continuity

Responsible for the establishment and execution of a Business Continuity Plan (BCP), including the components of required redundancy, UPS, and back-up/recovery in order to ensure business continuity of the IT systems.Core activities1

• Create, Update & Audit the BCP

Hardware/Software

Direct the analysis, selection, and ongoing maintenance of all hardware and system software components and tools in order to achieve the ICT strategy.Core activities

• Manage and coordinates support for technical hardware and system software problems.
• Approve the technology and technical environment within which a proposed application is to operate.
• Ensure that the technology is supportable, trainable and maintainable over the expected duration of use.
• Maintain Technical Documentation for current system.

Ministry involvement

Ensure you are actively involved in team life at your location when possible, in order to ensure you are ministering to others and being ministered to.Core activities

• Serve practically within the team to ensure whatever needs to be done is done well and the load is shared around.

Compensation - Support base development

Actively develop and maintain a prayer and financial support base for your ministry with OM Ships International in order to resource your ministry and that of OM Ships with prayer and financial resources.Core activities

• Maintain regular contact with your prayer partners, financial supporters and sending church(es)

- developing relationships that minister to them and further your partnership with them.

• Develop your prayer and financial support base on a continual basis by asking individuals, groups and churches to join your support team as you have opportunity.

Safe working practices

Ensure work is carried out in accordance with written and verbal communicated internal and external safety, environmental and country specific legal regulation in order to ensure safe working practice and avoidance of intentional disability.Core activities

• Ensure that both your own and the area you are working in is kept clean, orderly and safe.
• Ensure a safe and correct usage and adequate maintenance of used tools and equipment.
• Work in accordance with verbal and written communicated safety and environmental regulations and understand and know the risks and risk assessments related to your role and duties.
• Ensure you are aware if applicable of the relevant International Safety Management Code (ISM) requirements for your role and / or location, including the annual reviews of ISM and International Ship & Port Security Code (ISPS) systems
