Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for supporting in the development, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and practices to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. The Safety Manager will also monitor compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Help implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Execute and revise safety training programs and materials for employees.
- Stay current with all safety regulations, laws, and industry standards, and ensure compliance.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non‑compliance.
- Oversee and manage the investigation and reporting of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Deliver safety training programs for new and existing employees and develop new or existing programs as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and provide guidance to employees on safe practices.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and opportunities for risk reduction.
- Create reports and presentations to share findings with management.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures at the project level.
- Conduct regular drills and ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
- Evaluate safety practices of vendors and contractors working on-site and ensure their compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety‑related activities, incidents, and training programs.
- Ensure all documentation is in compliance with requirements.
- OSHA #500 or 510 - Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry. (Has the capability to teach in front of an audience.)
- Safety specific knowledge in the following areas is required:
Fall Protection, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Electrical Safety. - Proven experience as a Safety Manager in a similar industry, with a history of managing safety professionals.
- Data Center experience as a safety professional.
- In‑depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. (Knowledge of safety management systems.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (Can talk to a technician in one minute and turn around and have a conversation with a VP or higher in the next minute.)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional) are a plus. (CHST, CSP, Current First Aid, CPR, AED Instructor; NSC Preferred; OSHA #3115 Fall Protection (formerly OSHA #3110 Fall Arrest Systems); OSHA #7115 Lockout/Tagout; NFPA 70E no later than 2021 edition)
