RPG Field – X-Ray Welder, North Kingstown, RI

• Ideal candidates will possess welding experience with GMAW, GMAW-P and SMAW.
• Performs welding processes on carbon steel (OSS, HSS, HY, HSLA, etc.) assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals, metal alloys and various joint configurations.
• Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Oxy/Fuel pre-heat and carbon arc gouging, occasional mirror welding. Verifying weld size using weld gauges.
• Monitors and verifies quality in accordance with SSP's or MDD's.
• Occasional heavy lifting up to 45 lbs multiple times during an 8–12 hour shift.
• Standing and walking for extended periods during an 8–12 hour shift.
• Occasional bending from waist, crouching, kneeling and crawling during an 8–12 hour shift.
• Occasional climbing of ladders up to 25 feet.
• Occasional work in confined spaces with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and radiation during an 8–12 hour shift.

• Minimum 3 years of related experience with a High School diploma/GED and/or certification in the assigned area preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; working knowledge of precision calibration tools (weld gauges); ability to operate multiple types of welding equipment; good troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work multiple shifts.
• Able to read and interpret drawings, technique sheets and weld symbols.
• Ability to pass respirator fit-check and wear a respirator for portions of or all of an 8–12 hour shift as required. Must be clean shaven for fit-check and donning of respirator.
• Must be a team player. Flexible, willing to work long hours, safety oriented.
• Experience with the fabrication of submarine parts and modules is preferred.

• GMAW-SP & GMAW-P
• GMAW-P will be 3-position plate tests with MIL-100S-1 wire; GMAW-SP will be in 2G position with MIL-100S-1 wire.
• Welding tests will be bent immediately after the test.
• Further volumetric welding tests will be given to mimic hull penetration and liner installations.
• Successful completion of volumetric weld tests is required for X-Ray placement.

• U.S. birth certificate or other acceptable birth documents; U.S. passport or passport card; U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization; or a record of Military Processing (Form DD 1966) showing U.S. citizenship.
