Job Description

The Mobility LPN reports to the Divisional Director of Clinical Excellence. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Mobility LPN performs multi-skilled activities to support patient mobility, including, but not limited to, ambulation, transfers to/from chair, assisting patients in practicing exercises or functional activities, and total lifts to chair using lift equipment to achieve desired outcomes. The LPN will be responsible for updating the highest level of mobility performed each shift for assigned patients, as well as updating the mobility documentation, such as AM-PAC scores.

  • Graduate of a Practical Nurse Program and successful completion of the LPN NCLEX with a minimum of one year of patient care work experience in a health care facility
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Physical Requirements

perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands (Continuous); perform firm grasping with fingers and hands (Continuous); perform fine manipulation with fingers and hands (Continuous); reach overhead (Frequent); perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders (Continuous); fully use both legs (Continuous); use lower extremities for balance and coordination (Frequent); reach in all directions (Continuous); lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted (Infrequent);

lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (Infrequent); lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent); exert up to 50 lbs. of force (Frequent). Examples include transferring a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist; for every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker; 20 lbs. of force to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet;

25 lbs. to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Maintain 20/40 vision (corrected) in one or both eyes; see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; distinguish colors; judge distance/relationship between objects; good peripheral vision. Maintain hearing acuity with correction. Perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.

Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to work in a latex-safe environment. Maintain tactile sensory functions. Selected positions: maintain olfactory sensory function; qualify physically for respirator use as required.

Job Description

Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with six months of patient care experience required. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. Ability to demonstrate commitment to patient-centered care philosophy as evidenced by effective communications skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills.
