The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Registered Nurse to provide patient-centered care utilizing the full nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Responsibilities- Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
- Directs and leads other team members and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver age- and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
- Provides patient/family-centered care, focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs, including assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation of goals.
- Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and demonstrating responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
- Engages actively in a professional practice model, participating in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, effective teamwork, autonomous practice, and accountability.
- Coordinates efficient delivery of patient care services, applying care management principles, identifying clinical priorities, and initiating action to improve patient outcomes.
36 hours per week; day and night shifts available; every other weekend; no call duties.

- Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
- Current registration as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Valid AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking vitals, administering injections, or conducting exams.
- Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
- Visual acuity and color perception to read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
- Auditory ability to communicate with patients and colleagues, and to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
- Physical stamina and resilience to manage the demands of long shifts and stressful situations.
- Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other facility areas.
- Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
