Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

• Active SC RN license or Compact RN license in hand prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin administration, and Rapid Response required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, insulin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Social Security Number and driver's license required for consideration

• Medical Surgical unit in a 34-bed hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7, with flex to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
• Required to work every other weekend
• PRN low census on-call requirement
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg patient population, including telemetry, GI, neurological, orthopedic, and renal cases
• Royal blue scrubs required
• May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
• First-time travelers may be accepted depending on position needs
• Block scheduling requests may be considered but are not guaranteed
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
