Laboratory Technician
Kershaw, SC | Full-Time | On-Site
Reports to:
Shift Supervisor
Turner Staffing Group is partnering with our client, a minerals testing laboratory in Kershaw, SC, to find a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician. In this role, you'll process client samples from preparation through analysis, playing a hands-on part in delivering accurate, high-quality results in a fast-paced lab environment. WhatYou'll Do Sample Processing & Analysis
- Prepare and process samples using approved digestion and dissolution methods, following documented lab procedures.
- Perform primary crushing, riffle splitting, subsampling, sieving, compositing, and racking of samples.
- Operate laboratory equipment, including Orbis crushers and LM2 pulverisers, in line with training and safe work procedures.
- Accurately weigh and prepare samples for a range of analytical testing methods.
- Work independently once trained, managing multiple jobs to meet operational priorities and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate laboratory worksheets and update spreadsheets and tracking systems.
- Support quality control efforts and elevate non-conformances following lab procedures.
- Keep quality records current and aligned with the lab's quality management system.
- Perform routine housekeeping and equipment maintenance to keep the lab clean and contamination-free.
- Participate in daily pre-start meetings, shift handovers, and safety discussions.
- Follow all safety procedures and correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report hazards, and take appropriate action to reduce risk.
- Support and mentor teammates, sharing knowledge as your experience grows.
- High school diploma / Year 12 certificate or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a minerals or analytical laboratory preferred, including sample preparation and lab data entry.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, standards, and quality systems.
- Strong attention to detail and solid basic lab bench skills, including accurate pipetting and contamination prevention.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills for recordkeeping and reporting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Valid driver's license; forklift license a plus.
- Comfortable working in a remote-site or rotating-roster laboratory environment.
- Build hands-on experience in a specialized minerals testing laboratory.
- Work with modern lab equipment and gain exposure to industry-standard quality systems.
- Grow into more advanced technical and leadership responsibilities as you develop your skills.
