Job Summary

The position serves as Research Coordinator for the North Inlet–Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Research Coordinator is responsible for designing and implementing long‑term coastal ecosystem monitoring programs, including direct oversight of the Reserve’s participation in the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) System‑Wide Monitoring Program. The role also includes leading and facilitating externally funded applied research initiatives that advance the understanding and management of estuaries and coastal watersheds.

Responsibilities encompass the synthesis, analysis, interpretation, and translation of technical and scientific data for diverse audiences. The Research Coordinator develops strategic plans and programmatic goals to strengthen and advance the Reserve’s scientific program, ensuring the effective integration of research and monitoring outcomes into management, education, and outreach activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- The design and implementation of basic and applied research.
- Familiarity with environmental sensors and monitoring instrumentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of advanced data management and data analysis tools and techniques.
- Understanding of field‑based research.
