Security Specialist III

Job Description

This position will perform traffic direction, vehicle assists, write parking citations, control access and movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, provide crowd control at events, open and secure areas as required, respond to and render aid in non‑arrest emergencies, and maintain accurate reports and records concerning fire, safety, enforcement of laws, and college regulations. The role requires 24/7 coverage.

• Direct traffic and provide vehicle assistance.
• Write parking citations and control access and movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Provide crowd control at events.
• Open and secure areas as required.
• Respond to and render aid in non‑arrest emergencies.
• Maintain accurate reports and records concerning fire, safety, enforcement of laws, and college regulations.
• Monitor and respond to audible/visual alarms, patrol on foot, and assist emergency personnel.
• Work under extreme weather conditions.

• High school diploma.
• Experience in fire prevention, safety, or security activities.
• Preferred experience in a college environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of best practices and techniques of safety, security, and fire protection.
• Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations and adjust to fluctuating situations.
• Skill to investigate accidents, disturbances, and violations.
• Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the general public.
• Ability to monitor and respond to audible/visual alarms and patrol on foot.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and assist emergency personnel as needed.
• Capacity to work under extreme weather conditions.
