The purpose of this job is to provide supervision and coordination of workers (both skilled and unskilled) engaged in various types of construction projects, such as construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantling of tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.
The goals of this position include scheduling work to meet timetables in a safe manner, per the plans and specifications, and to meet estimated cost. This position may be required to maintain a good working relationship with inspectors, developers, vendors, subcontractors, etc. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work at heights with no fear.
- Determine the type of scaffold needed and how to properly instruct on how to install.
- Oversee transport of tubular scaffold or other structural material and erect the scaffold as instructed by the scaffold builder.
- Hoist scaffolding materials upward in order to erect temporary structure.
- Properly secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
- Properly secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
- Adhere to all OSHA, site‑specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.
- Supervise the dismantling of scaffolding when it has been properly communicated to do so.
- Inspect and properly stow scaffolding material after dismantling.
- Perform final inspection of completed scaffolding.

- Manage a small amount of onsite equipment fleet.
- Recruit hourly trade personnel.
- Manage craftsmen, equipment, and material resources.

- Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the work, the materials to be utilized, and manpower requirements (by craft) for each construction phase.
- Execute work plans for major components of work and monitor adherence to work plans.
- Execute established procedures for ordering self‑perform materials, supplies, and small tools from approved suppliers. Ensure timely requisition is made for needed materials and equipment.
- Inspect work in progress and ensure that it is performed within the tolerances established. Take corrective action when tolerances and/or overall performance standard are not being maintained.
- Ability to manage crew into an effectively coordinated working unit, promoting a motivating atmosphere.
- Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates through various on‑the‑job training opportunities, company‑sponsored training programs.
- Recommend personnel actions, such as promotions, discharges, disciplinary measures, initiate and suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
- Supervise the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with plan, specifications, and schedules.
- Conduct toolbox and JHA safety meetings with employee‑owners to instruct them on topics for accident prevention.
- Enforce all safety regulations and company policies and is constantly alert to all safety conditions.
- Investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency and work quality; works to resolve issues.
