The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing and production equipment within industrial facilities. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime and optimize productivity. The technician will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to implement preventive maintenance programs and troubleshoot complex machinery issues.
A key outcome of this role is to uphold safety standards and compliance while enhancing equipment reliability and performance. Ultimately, the Industrial Maintenance Technician contributes to the overall operational excellence and cost-effectiveness of the facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields.
- Proven experience in industrial equipment maintenance, including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and practices in an industrial environment.
- Associate degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in industrial maintenance, such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or equivalent.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions using appropriate tools and techniques, and execute timely repairs.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment issues that impact manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts inventory to support operational planning and compliance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements while working on equipment and within the facility.
The required skills enable the technician to effectively diagnose and repair a wide range of industrial equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and sustained production flow. Mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge are applied daily to troubleshoot complex machinery and implement preventive maintenance strategies. Reading and interpreting technical documents allow the technician to understand equipment specifications and repair procedures accurately. Preferred skills such as PLC programming and familiarity with automation systems enhance the technician's ability to work with modern industrial technologies and improve system integration.
Additionally, strong communication and record‑keeping skills support collaboration with team members and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
