Manages all aspects of the transportation function in a fast‑paced, customer‑oriented environment, including selection of qualified drivers, routing, driving, safety, unloading, fleet maintenance, customer/driver relationships, and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Operating Company (OpCo) compliance. Includes involvement with the driver selection and orientation process, handling employee relations issues including disciplinary action, monitoring DOT and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) compliance, managing Transportation Supervisors and monitoring the routing process to ensure customer satisfaction.
Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Supervise associates, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution, ensuring drivers deliver safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Oversee day‑to‑day administration of delivery functions: manage, monitor, and approve department expenses; calculate driver payroll; review driver trip and expense reports; identify and resolve problems.
- Operate and monitor automated fleet management systems (e.g., Tripmaster, Xata) and truck computer systems.
- Work closely with Warehouse Manager to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency.
- Schedule truck deliveries and routing daily, including backhauls, adjusting routes to meet customer needs and maximize profitability; schedule equipment maintenance.
- Maintain and update driver information: licenses, DOT medical certifications, tickets, accidents, and other risk and safety data.
- Responsible for DOT compliance, monitoring logs and ensuring driver compliance with regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
4‑6 Years of transportation experience, including in‑depth knowledge of DOT regulations and operations of computerized fleet management systems.
Supervisory experience.
